Sudbury Hall Grasshoppers

We created 8 hand painted grasshopper sculptures from the ideas of Sudbury’s Children Ambassadors. These form an outdoor trail around their new garden development encouraging children to explore and play in new ways.

Key Objectives

  • Community- Sudbury wanted to empower their Children Ambassadors to give their ideas for grasshopper designs. We created a pack to enable the ambassadors to get their ideas across.

  • Increase Footfall- The trail gave a reason for people to visit the new site. It provided entertainment for families and increased dwell time.

  • Way finding Totems- The trail element of the project got customers exploring the gardens which were often overlooked on the route from the House to the Museum.

  • Legacy- The ambassadors who had a hand in the design now have made a contribution to the very fabric of the gardens.

  • Flexibility- The grasshoppers were designed to be movable in order for them to be placed in trees to keep the trail exciting for repeat visitors.
